The Šentilj - Maribor - Gruškovlje motorway has been fully operational since 2020. Due to its length, the Slovenian vignette is expensive. Therefore, it is worth considering bypassing the paid sections and not buying a vignette in Slovenia. /You can find the bypass of the paid sections here/
If you decide to use the Slovenian motorway, you must purchase a Slovenian motorway vignette. You can easily buy this vignette at petrol stations on the Austrian motorway or directly at the Slovenian border crossing. From 2023, these vignettes will only be available in electronic form.
According to current regulations, every vehicle weighing up to 3,500 kg that drives on a Slovenian motorway must have a Slovenian motorway vignette. This also applies to two-wheeled vehicles.
Types and prices of highway vignettes:
Highway vignettes are divided into three categories: vignette 1: two-wheeled vehicles /motorcycles/
vignette 2A: vehicles whose height above the 1st axle is up to 1.3 m /all ordinary passenger cars/
vignette 2B: vehicles whose height above the 1st axle is 1.3 m and higher /all minibuses and vans, e.g.: Ford Transit, Mercedes Vito, VW T4, T5, etc./
The websites listed below have current prices and a table with the division of cars into 2A or 2B.
